Karst, no.2

Karst, no.2

Karst topography is found throughout the Driftless Area, which is made up of dolomite and limestone bedrock. It is formed when rainfall dissolves the soluble limestone over time. Water gets through the cracks and creates sinkholes, caves and springs, which are features prevalent throughout the area. In fact, the Driftless Area has the largest concentration of cold water streams, a paradise for those fishing for trout. The “Karst” series represents the trickle of water that makes its way down through the limestone, which I gathered locally from the bluffs.
